Jodhpur Railway Station

Jodhpur Railway Station is an A1 category station. It is located almost at the centre of Jodhpur city. The main entry of station is opens towards Maharaja Umaid Singh Statue circle while the Second entry of station opens towards Central jail of Jodhpur and connects to Ratanada Road. This makes it more accessible from both the sides of Jodhpur city. Jodhpur Railway Station has a total of 5 platforms and 7 lines. To decongest the main Jodhpur station, the suburban station Bhagat Ki Kothi Railway station (BGKT) was developed as the Second main station for Passenger trains. Jodhpur station serves more than 45000 passengers daily. On an average a total of approximately 30 pairs of trains (including weekly trains) originate/terminate from/to jodhpur station and a total of 48 trains passes through jodhpur station. The main Routes passing through Jodhpur are Jodhpur - Delhi, Jodhpur - Jaisalmer, Jodhpur - Bhildi, Jodhpur - Marwar and Jodhpur - Barmer.

Jodhpur Railway station was opened in 1885 under the jurisdiction of New Jodhpur Railway. The first train run from Jodhpur to Luni was on 9 March 1885. The New Jodhpur Railway was later combined with Bikaner Railway to form Jodhpur-Bikaner Railway in 1889. A Railway line was completed between Jodhpur and Bikaner in 1891. Later in 1900, lt combined with Jodhpur Hyderabad Railway (some part of this railway is presently in Pakistan) leading to connection with Hyderabad of Sindh Province. Later in 1924 Jodhpur and Bikaner Railways worked as independent Railways. After Independence, a part of Jodhpur Railway went to Pakistan.

Some Interesting Facts

On 16th February 1881, Construction of 20 Mile long Branch line from Karachi to Pali commenced under the banner of Jodhpur Railway.
The work was completed on 28th February 1882 and on 24th June 1882 this line was opened for traffic.
In the year 1886 Railway Workshop, Jodhpur was set up for maintenance of Rolling Stock on Jodhpur – Bikaner Railway.
Present Jodhpur Division was formed after Independence, covering most of the truncated J.R. with marginal adjustments from the neighboring Divisions.
Presently, Jodhpur Division has 1570.33 RKM on BG.

Ist Rank in Cleanliness Survey by QCI in 2018 :
Jodhpur station achieved Ist rank in cleanliness Survey of all 407 A1 & A category stations. Survey was conducted by QCI (Quality Council of India) in 2018 (Detail report) .Announcement by Railway minister Shri Piyush Goyal (Vedio)
5-S Certification:
5S is a system for organizing spaces so work can be performed efficiently, effectively, and safely. This system focuses on putting everything where it belongs and keeping the workplace clean, which makes it easier for people to do their jobs without wasting time or risking injury. The term 5S comes from five Japanese words i.e. Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke. In English, these words are often translated to Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain. Jodhpur Railway Station has recently been certified by 5-S System.
ISO 14001 Certification:
ISO 14001 is the international standard that specifies requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS). It provides a framework that an organization can follow, rather than establishing environmental performance requirements. In compliance of Honble NGT’s orders, Jodhpur Railway Station has recently been certified by ISO 14001 System.
Digital Feedback System for Housekeeping Contractor: under new SBD contract for Mechanized cleaning of station and trains. :
A digital feedback system has been developed for present housekeeping contractor as per new SBD contract guidelines. Supervisors have been nominated to take real time feedbacks from passengers, for this purpose, Android Tabs have been provided to the nominated supervisors. This feedback is also visible on Jodhpur Station Website.
India’s Cleanest railway Station 2018:
Third cleanliness Survey was conducted over 75 A-1 class stations and 407 A class stations of Indian railway by QCI during the month of may 2018; the survey was conducted at Jodhpur station on 21-22 May 2018 and the result was declared on 14th august 2018 by Hon’ble Railway minister Shri Piyush Goyal. Jodhpur stands on first position with getting marks as 977.97 out of 1000 MM.
Indias Cleanest railway Station 2019 (Swachh Bharat Purushkar 2019):
First Prize of “Swachh Bharat Purushkar 2019” in Swachh Railway Station Category was awarded by Department of Drinking water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India in “SWACHH MAHOTSAVA” organised on 6Th September 2019 in Vigyan Bhawan New Delhi. The Award was received by DRM JU Shri Goutam Arora and Shri Narayan Lal Station Director Jodhpur.
India’s cleanest railway Station 2019 (Safaigiri Award 2019):
Jodhpur station bagged yet another cleanest railway station award “Safaigiri Award 2019” in Fifth Safaigiri Awards function organised by India Today Group on 02 Oct 2019 in New delhi on the eve of 150Th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, in presence of Hon’ble president of India. The Award was received by DRM JU Shri Goutam Arora.
India’s IInd Cleanest railway Station 2019:
Forth cleanliness Survey was conducted over 720 stations of NSG-1 to NSG-4 category of Indian railway by QCI during the month of September 2019; the survey was conducted at Jodhpur station on 7-8 September 2019 and the result was declared on 2 October 2019. Jodhpur stands on Second position with getting marks as 927.19 out of 1000 MM.
RAJASTHAN ENERGY CONSERVATION AWARD 2019 (RECA 2019):
Recently, Jodhpur station bagged Ist RECA 2019 Prize for efforts made at Jodhpur railway station in the category of Government Building in the field of energy conservation on 14th December 2019 in a state level function organised by Energy ministry in Jaipur. At present total of 770 KWp is being generated by roof top solar plants provided on the building rooftop and PF shelters which fulfils the 70% demand of Jodhpur station, beyond this 100% LED lighting is being provided at station and energy efficient HVLS fan are also provided in main concourse of Jodhpur station in the direction of energy conservation.
Green Platinum Rating Certification by Indian Green Building Council:
Jodhpur Railway station has been awarded as India’s first railway station to become Platinum Rated Green Railway Station with Highest Points. This is given by the Indian Green Building Council – Confederation of Industry (IGBC-CII). The IGBC-CII, with the support of Environment Directorate of the Indian Railways, has developed the Green Railway Stations Rating system to facilitate the transformation of existing railway stations into eco-friendly ones that offer an enhanced commuter experience. The rating system actually address national priorities like water conservation, handling of waste, energy efficiency, reduced use of fossil fuels, less dependency on usage of valuable materials and the health and well-being of occupants.

Jodhpur Railway Station Won the Econaur Sustainability awards in Energy Management Project Category.Econaur Successfully Hosted the Second Edition of “Econaur Sustainability Awards 2021” on 8th October 2021 during an Virtual Ceremony from 5 pm to 7 pm.Econaur Sustainability Awards was bestowed to the organizations who worked on sustaining our resources and also to the innovative products which can be used in green construction and to the buildings which are energy efficient or contributing towards a sustainable environment.
